September 26 Strictly Come Sundays
Strictly Come Dancing – the results show moves to Sunday evenings The Strictly Come Dancing results show will transmit on Sundays with a brand new 45-minute programme on BBC One. With a strong appetite for good entertaining family viewing on Sunday evenings, Strictly Come Dancing provides the perfect end to the weekend and a chance for all the family to find out who survives to train for another week and who is hanging up their dance shoes for good. The new extended show – which will be an extra 15 minutes long – will be packed with more Strictly goodies include more behind–the–scenes footage, music performances and, most importantly, more dancing. In a change to the format, the judges will make the final decision on who will leave the competition on Sundays. When the programme closes on Saturday night viewers will continue to vote for their favourite couple for one hour following the end of the programme. The phone lines will then close and the votes will be counted and verified. When the show returns on Sunday evening the results will be announced with the viewers' vote and the judges' scores combining to save the couples. The bottom two couples will then face a dance–off leaving the judges to decide – based solely on that performance alone – who should stay and who should go. If the judges' vote is split 50/50 then head judge Len Goodman will have the deciding vote on who should be saved. In the final week the viewers will decide who will be crowned Strictly Come Dancing champion 2007. The new series of Strictly Come Dancing starts on BBC One on Saturday 6 October 2007 with the first results show on BBC One on Sunday 7 October. Strictly Come Dancing is commissioned by Peter Fincham, Controller BBC One, and Elaine Bedell, Controller Entertainment Commissioning. The former 'EastEnders' star - who has been axed as Deano Wicks in the soap - cried out in agony as doctors bandaged his leg and banned him from practising for three days.
Matt told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "One minute I was dancing and all of a sudden I was in pain. I pulled some ligaments in my leg and I've had to have physio. I'm out of action for a few days which is annoying as I've been practising hard. We've been doing four hours a day and it's really difficult. It makes 'EastEnders' look easy." But the 20-year-old actor has little hope of winning the BBC reality dance show because he believes rival contestant Kelly Brook is stealing the spotlight. He said: "If I was going to put money on someone it would be Kelly. Every time I open a paper she's pictured in a skimpy outfit and there's just a few lines about everyone else. But the competition is really intense. Alesha Dixon and Gethin Jones are dark horses. I'd keep an eye on them." Matt, Kelly and 12 other celebrities will begin battling it out on the dance floor for viewer's votes next Saturday. Getting over the breakdown of a relationship is a difficult thing at the best of times. But if you're in the public eye, having your every move scrutinised, it must be particularly uncomfortable. So spare a thought for Letitia Dean, who recently separated from husband Jason Pethers. The former EastEnder had been married to the media executive for five years. Now it seems Letitia is hoping appearing on Strictly Come Dancing will provide her with the boost she needs. A friend told the Daily Star Sunday: "Strictly Come Dancing is a chance for Letitia to move on and look to the future. She's a great actress and a big star. I'm sure she'll be a massive success on the show. She certainly deserves it." Letitia was an original EastEnders cast member, making her Walford debut as Sharon Watts in the first episode way back in 1985 when she was just 18 years old. She had several spells in the soap, but quit in 2006 following the death of her on-screen hubby Dennis Rickman. Gethin gives it a twirl despite his mates’ teasing. Before signing up for Strictly Come Dancing, Gethin Jones was pilloried for “dancing like his dad”, teased about his lack of prowess by his rugby mates and readily admitted taking to the dancefloor was “alien” to him. The 29-year-old from Cardiff, well used to taking on challenges in his role as a Blue Peter presenter, seemed to be facing his toughest test yet. But the sporty Welsh TV favourite yesterday revealed how he has thrown himself into training “as intense as for any sport”, spending up to four-and-a-half hours a day preparing for the new series starting this week. For the past fortnight Jones and his dance partner Camilla Dallerup have been practising religiously to get ready for the Saturday’s first night. Although accustomed to gruelling sports training – he is a keen footballer, rugby player, tennis player and golfer – Jones said dancing was something he had previously been generally unacquainted with.
He said, “I love challenges, I love having a go at stuff, especially stuff I’m not very good at and dancing is something that’s really alien to me. My friends have been teasing me about the fact that I can’t do it, so I’ve said ‘right then I’ll show you’. They’ve been watching some of the tapes and laughing because of some of the hip action but you can see deep down they wish they could have a go. Obviously there’s a lot of micky taking with my boys, especially the rugby lads but mostly I think they’re just pleased for me.”
He continued, “I thought I’m not going to sit back and say ‘Oh it’s a girly thing’, I’m going to have a go myself. It’s a very physical challenge, you have to be very flexible and you need mental strength to put it all together. I’ve realised over the last couple of weeks it really is like learning a new skill, and when you get it right it’s a real buzz."
“I did a knee slide for the first time yesterday and I actually burned my jogging bottoms. I thought ‘yes, this is brilliant, I feel like a professional dancer!’”
To date Jones’s dance experience has been limited to the odd challenge for Blue Peter. He said, “This dancing is totally different, just getting your body in the right position is really, really difficult, that’s why it’s become such a big challenge. And the standard they expect on Strictly Come Dancing, the standard is rising every year. It’s not just going on and doing the moves, it’s going on and performing and that’s what’s really quite frightening to be honest.”
But he’s thoroughly enjoyed his training, much to his surprise. “I’ve enjoyed it more than I thought,” he said. “I’m very self critical, I thought I would get down on myself but when those times have come I’ve dealt with it and Camilla is great for that, she’s said ‘don’t try to run before you can walk’.
“I thought my favourite dances would be the fun stuff like the jive and the Latin but we’ve been doing the ballroom, the waltz, recently and I just love it. I didn’t think I would but there’s something fluid about it, you and your partner are one, and when you get it right it’s great.
“Although when I don’t get it right poor Camilla gets a kick in the shins.”
Jones is one of two Welsh contestants in the new series, with sports presenter Gabby Logan – daughter of former football star and Wales ex-manager Terry Yorath – also competing.
Other contenders in the surprise television hit’s fifth series include model Kelly Brook, Rod Stewart’s wife Penny Lancaster and former Mis-Teeq singer Alesha Dixon.
But even if he doesn’t make it to the final, the challenge will have been worth it for Jones. He added, “I’ll be able to dance properly at weddings now, not dance like my dad.”
The new series of Strictly Come Dancing starts on Saturday, at 6pm, on BBC1Wales September 23 Rod Said Just Go For It, Hot LegsPenny Lancaster is getting ready to shimmy her 6ft frame across our TV screens every Saturday night as half of one of the hottest couples on the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing. And she's nervous as a kitten. "I'm so excited when I think about it. Then a wave of panic sweeps over me. I know my knees will be knocking together and my hands will be sweating profusely." But Rod Stewart's gorgeous blonde wife is determined to do well. "I'd be upset if I was voted off first. I'd love to win it because that would mean I'll get to learn all the dances - my goal is to be the best I can be." So who does she regard as her deadliest rival? She doesn't hesitate. "Kelly Brook," says 36-year-old Penny. "She is absolutely gorgeous. She's got one of those bodies women want and men desire. And she's partnered by Brendan Cole. They're a red-hot couple." Penny has already danced with Brendan, famous for his bump and grind both on and off the dance floor. The event was a charity polo match in Essex in July. Penny was a celebrity guest. "One of the auction prizes fell through at the last minute and the organiser, a friend of mine, said that one of the professionals from TV's Strictly Come Dancing - Brendan - who happened to be there agreed to step in and offer the first dance with the highest bidder. It was for charity so my friend asked me to help out with the bidding. "Bidding started at £1,500, so I upped it to £1,800 - and suddenly it stopped dead. I'd won. Brendan came over and was introduced to me, and we took to the floor and it was a great experience. Everyone was cheering." The event, to raise funds for a breast cancer charity, was partly organised by the daughter of Penny's old friend Maria Falco, who died of the illness a few years earlier at the age of 42. "It was Maria," reveals Penny, "who dared me to go up to Rod nine years ago at the Dorchester hotel in London and ask for an autograph for her daughter Louise. If I hadn't done that, Rod and I wouldn't be together today." So what does the 62-year-old rock legend have to say about his leggy wife dancing with another man? "He knows how much I love dancing. I did tap, modern and ballet until I was 11 and was told I'd never make it as a professional dancer because I was too tall. I was heartbroken. Rod is one of those people who, if he sees someone following their dream, he'd never dampen it. I danced to his hit Hot Legs for a charity performance in Tonite's the Night on the West End stage. He was in the front row cheering me on." Penny twice turned down invitations to appear in Strictly Come Dancing because of family commitments. She says: "When I told Rod I was thinking of accepting the latest invitation to take part in the show, his reaction couldn't have been more supportive. 'You go for it, girl!'" he said. The BBC has flown Ian Waite, Penny's professional dancing partner on the show, out to her in LA so they can start rehearsing. "Rod came to one of my practice sessions to understand exactly what I was asking of my body." Not to check up on her, perhaps? After all, it's not every man who'd be happy to watch his wife spend quite so much time in another man's arms. "True, but it's not as though I'm having an affair behind Rod's back." But she'll be getting physical with another man..."Yes, but I'll be like an actress playing a role. If I've got my leg wrapped around Ian's shoulder, it'll be because that's part of the requirements of that particular dance. If I were in a darkened nightclub or in a bedroom and I had my leg wrapped around another man, then obviously that would be a different story!" Penny says that in the weeks leading up to their wedding, she and Rod paid for a choreographer to give them dance lessons. "We wanted to learn the basic moves so that when we took to the floor for the first dance at our reception, we didn't trip over each other's feet." As well as the dancing, she relishes the prospect of toning up her figure. "I'm still not as fit as I was before I got pregnant with our son Alastair," she says. It was during the last Strictly Come Dancing series that Emma Bunton became pregnant with a new little Baby Spice. So are Penny and Rod planning a brother or sister for Alastair, who is two in November? "Absolutely," says Penny. "And who knows - after Strictly Come Dancing has finished, I'll be fit and strong - the perfect time to have another baby." Strictly Come Dancing starts Saturday, October 6, BBC1. ITV and the BBC are locked in a battle to get the Spice Girls on their primetime Saturday night shows. The X Factor and the Beeb's Strictly Come Dancing have both approached the re-formed band to bring Girl Power to their series. An ITV source said: "There have been discussions, but it would be difficult to get them on the final X Factor because they are playing a gig in London that night. The solution is to do a live feed from their concert. They could also do a masterclass with the finalists and advise them on how to deal with fame. It would be a ratings winner for sure." But Emma Bunton competed in the last series of Strictly and Mel B is taking part in the US version. So with two of the girls already dedicated fans they may be tempted to make an appearance on the dancefloor. A BBCinsider said: "The girls could perform a song or simply come down for the evening and give a few comments on the performances of the celebrity dancers. We would love them to make an appearance in some capacity." A tv source said: "The shows are such bitter rivals it would be impossible for the girls to appear on both." Last night the Spice Girls had not committed to either show and a spokesman declined to comment. The warbling wannabes will be hoping audiences Treat Them Nice when they compete in the BBC1 show starting tonight.
Hosted by Vernon Kay, 30 versions of The King – from early days to the jumpsuit era – will be bidding to get into the final. The audience and panel – Elvis’s best pal Joe Esposito, singer Suzi Quatro and Strictly Come Dancing choreographer Craig Revel Horwood – will decide which five make it to next Saturday’s contest, in which the winner will be decided. The World’s Greatest Elvis is on BBC 1 tonight at 6.55pm. It means big stars such as Kelly Brook, 27, will earn the same as less well-known names such as TV presenter Dominic Littlewood.
Even the dancers will get equal salaries when the series returns on October 6. Household name Brendan Cole, 28, will earn no more than lesser known pros. Bosses decided on the measure to reduce the backstage bickering of previous series when salaries were leaked to the press — causing friction between stars. A BBC insider said last night: “If celebrities find out someone is getting much more than them, it causes tensions. Some have kicked up a big fuss. There are so many people who want to take part, we don’t have to offer huge fees to get people to sign. They genuinely want to learn a new skill. So we’ve taken the decision to pay celebrities and dancers alike the same fee so that everyone is on a level playing field. It should cause much fewer headaches.” Big earners in previous series have included Spice Girl Emma Bunton, 31, and newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky, 35, who gave her fee to charity. In 2005, series 2 winner Jill Halfpenny signed for the Christmas special but pulled out at the eleventh hour in a row about her fee. Kicking of the new series on Saturday 29 September at 6pm, BBC One will be screening a 50-minute documentary introducing all of the fantastic new contestants, as well as revisiting some of the old favourites, to discover exactly what it's like to be a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing. After months of speculation, the programme documents the first time the celebs meet their professional dancing partners. How will ladies' man Brendan react to the news he'll be dancing with the beautiful Kelly Brook? Is Karen hoping she'll be dancing her way to the final again with ex-Coronation Street star Brian Capron? Taking a look back at past series, the programme also includes interviews with previous contestants including Darren Gough, Fiona Phillips and last year's winner Mark Ramprakash. They explain in their own words what it was like to be involved in such an exciting show, the nerves and excitement they felt on a daily basis, and how most had no idea what they were letting themselves in for... Following each contestant, viewers join them on their first training session as they don their heels and sparkles for the first time and reveal their hopes and fears for the months ahead... and the nerves that are building as that first performance looms in just seven days time. Strictly Come Dancing, Saturday 29 September 2007, 6pm, BBC One (Taken From http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2007/09_september/19/strictly.shtml) Star Alesha's Dancing With 'Reel' DelightPop princess Alesha Dixon has been named as one of the stars in this year's Strictly Come Dancing. The WGC girl will dance with ballroom personality Matthew Cutler on the Saturday night BBC One show.
Alesha, who shot to fame as one third of the girl-band Mis-Teeq, will compete against 13 other celebrities in front of an estimated 12 million viewers. Singer-songwriter, presenter and former Monk's Walk pupil, Alesha announced the news to her fans on her MySpace site. She said: "As some of you may know this year I'll be competing in Strictly Come Dancing. I hope you enjoy the show as much as I'm enjoying learning all these amazing dances. "Despite what people may think, I have had no dance training and never went to stage school. Dancing is a passion of mine and I've always wondered how well I would do if taught by a pro." Strictly Come Dancing begins in October and Alesha will be safe for the first week as only the male contestants are competing. Fans need not worry however, as she will be on screen for a group performance. Alesha's rivals include Kelly Brook, Letitia Dean and husband and wife Gabby and Kenny Logan. They will all perform in front of judges and dance experts Len Goodman, Craig Revel Horwood, Arlene Phillips and Bruno Tonioli and vying for the public votes. September 18 Help Save A Local Church!St Giles Church, Sheldon
Please help save our lovely old church. We need to raise about £20,000 to repair the tower. If we do not replace defective sandstone soon, the church building will have to be closed for all services, including weddings, baptisms and funerals.
The church has stood for over 700 years and during that time has been looked after by the people of Sheldon. If St Giles is to remain open for the next generations we need your help and generosity.
If you would like to donate, please post them to the Parish Office. Many Thanks!

Website - http://www.stgilessheldon.org/tower.php September 17 Kate Is Doing The FoxtrotsGMTV’S Kate Garraway has missed out on hours of training for Strictly Come Dancing after being hit by food poisoning. The 39-year-old TV presenter had been on a country break with hubby Derek Draper when both fell ill.
A source said: “Kate has been trying to rehearse, but it’s been a nightmare. She’s really worried that she will be behind all the others — everyone knows how competitive the celebs are.” Kate pulled it together to appear alongside her fellow dancers at a launch for the BBC1 hit last week. The show starts in early October. (Taken From http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2001320029-2007430102,00.html) Kelly's Strictly Flash DanceSexy Kelly Brook is set to appear almost NUDE on Strictly Come Dancing — when she squeezes into a skimpy flesh-coloured leotard. The revealing costume was designed especially to show the busty model’s curves. It has only strategically-placed sequins to protect Kelly’s modesty.
A source on the BBC1 hit, which starts next month, said: “Kelly’s got an amazing figure — the dress designer was very keen to show it off. She will be flaunting all her best bits on camera.” Kelly, 27, has already had all her costume fittings for the series, which starts next month. But she will only get to wear the saucy leotard if she makes it to the semi-final. The star, engaged to Hollywood’s Billy Zane, is partnered with Brendan Cole, who famously cheated on his fiancée with Natasha Kaplinsky in series one. Kelly is bookies’ favourite to win, at 4/1. EastEnder Matt Di Angelo, the soap’s Deano, is next at 6/1. (Taken From http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2001320029-2007421049,00.html) September 16 The Big Interview - Arlene Phillips
Strictly Come Dancing judge, Arlene Phillips, 64, on growing old gracefully, her teen daughter keeping her young, and going under the knife. Like all good showbiz luvvies, for a long time Arlene Phillips refused to tell the world her age. And if we’d guessed, we’d have said the frank Strictly Come Dancing judge couldn’t be a day over 50. So when we discovered she was 64, and old enough to be queueing up for her pension, we fell off our stools. And thus, it was decided. Arlene had to be the cover star of our issue celebrating fabulous over 40-somethings, what with her being two decades beyond that and having very much ‘still got it’. ‘Oh God, I’d rather people didn’t know my real age. It took me a long time to decide to reveal it,’ Arlene admits. ‘I’d love to be 20 years younger. I can’t believe I’m 64, it’s a shock. I don’t feel it in my head. And what does 64 look like, anyway?’ As a rule, not much like Arlene Phillips. She has killer pins most women half her age can only dream of, and a face that features fewer lines than a Mr Bean movie. Not that she thinks so. ‘Being on TV has made me 100% more self-conscious. It really brought home my age, and I worry all the time about every line and wrinkle,’ she says. ‘The only place that’s amazing is around my eyes, I’ve never had any wrinkles there. Lots of my younger friends have, but never me. I’ve been lucky with my genes, I guess.’ Such is Arlene’s TV paranoia that she’s planning to go under the knife in the not-too-distant future. ‘I’m absolutely 100% ready to go and get myself fixed up. I’m checking out doctors now to get my neck and chin done. It’s scary, because I have a low pain threshold,’ she says. ‘And I never want to end up with that big old stretched look where I resemble a piece of plastic.’Of course, being fabulous isn’t just about looking young, it’s about feeling young too. ‘Everyone in my family has a young outlook,’ says Arlene. ‘And my daughters keep me young, especially being the mother of a teenager.’ Indeed, at 48, when most women are contending with hot flushes and HRT, Arlene was producing her second child, Abi, who’s 16 (her elder daughter Alana is 28). ‘They keep me savvy, but, still being so young, Abi has me worried too, and that definitely keeps my energy up.’ Have the girls helped turn Arlene into a yummy mummy? ‘They keep me updated clothes and make-up wise, and with the music they love. Although Abi is into lots of music that takes me back, not forward, like Nick Drake and Eric Clapton.’ So we’re not likely to see Arlene moshing at a Kaiser Chiefs gig anytime soon? ‘Maybe there’ll be a trip to see the Arctic Monkeys coming up.’ That we’d like to see… Arlene’s youthful mentality has seen her snag a younger man – her partner of 20 years, Angus Ion, is a mere 53. ‘We are a match. I’ve never felt older than him. I think that’s because, in my head, I haven’t computed the age I am. At 64, you’re meant to be be the little old lady – I’m not.’ But Arlene isn’t in danger of retiring to a life of blue rinses and zimmer frames just yet. She still has the kind of work load most of us would keel over at the mere thought of. Having not long finished her stint on Saturday night dancing competition Dance X, Arlene is about to return to our screens as a judge on the next series of the show that made her a TV star – the, erm, Saturday night dancing competition Strictly Come Dancing, which starts on 6 October. On top of this, she’s still been doing what she did way before this fame lark happened – choreographing West End shows. Recently she’s been at the helm of both The Sound of Music and the BRATZ musical for kids. ‘I’ve just had the busiest summer of my life. We have a cottage in Herefordshire and I’ve been working from there, then commuting to London for Dance X,’ she says. ‘My life is as busy as it was 20 years ago – that hasn’t changed, so I haven’t changed. And having the type of job where I work with lots of young people helps keep me young too, especially as there are plenty of hot men gyrating for me!’ So how is Arlene on the dancefloor these days? ‘I’m not as fit as I was. It depends what job I have to do – The Sound Of Music didn’t have too much choreography in it, but then the BRATZ show was a lot of dancing. I don’t have to keep having a sit down, but I do need more sleep. I used to exist on four hours sleep. Now, I really need my eight hours.’ Has she, we wonder, ever had anything approaching a mid-life crisis? ‘I don’t think so, but I almost had a late-life crisis a few years ago before I started on Strictly Come Dancing. I was travelling an awful lot, working between America and England. I took every job I was offered and I hate flying. But then Strictly happened and, for three months of the year, I had to be here, so I started saying “no” to work. If that hadn’t happened I would have got into a complete panic. So Strictly saved me.’ Arlene says one of the best things about being in her 60s is the contentment she feels. ‘I’m a happier person. I’ve had so much, and now I’m not driven in the same way. I’m able to accept lows as part of my life because there are things you can’t change. Life is partly what you make it and partly fate. There’ll be things that bring you so much joy and others that don’t.’ If Arlene could return to her younger self, would she? ‘I always think I should have stayed at home for longer when my children were born. But we’re very close, and I wouldn’t change a thing. I’ve struggled and lived without any money, but everything I’ve done and been through has made me who I am today.’ Arlene on the return of Strictly Come Dancing… ‘I absolutely love it, I can’t wait. It’s the highlight of my year. My dream list of celebrities are David Tennant, because he’s absolutely gorgeous; Jonathan Ross, because he needs putting in his place; and Jordan, because it’d be interesting to watch – no one would be able to get close to her, would they? A little Prince or two would be nice too, and if Princess Diana were alive today, she’d have been doing Strictly Come Dancing for sure.’ ARLENE‘S TOP TIPS FOR NOT LOOKING (OR FEELING) YOUR AGE… ‘Keep your mind active and busy, whether it’s reading newspapers, doing a crossword, whatever. I’m going to get myself one of those mind gyms.’ ‘Make sure you always have healthy snacks with you to avoid buying junk food when you get hungry. I always take fruit and oat biscuits with me wherever I go. Eating lots of fruit and vegetables makes you feel so alive.’ ‘Always get eight hours sleep. It really revitalises you.’ ‘Exercise every day, even if it’s just dancing around your living room to the radio for 15 minutes.’ ARLENE‘S BEAUTY TIPS ‘I take collagen capsules every day called Proto-col pills (www.proto-col.co.uk). They’re absolutely fantastic.’ ‘I’ve always taken my make-up off with Quickies – they were the forerunner of facewipes, and you can still get them in funny little old chemists. Whenever I find them I buy lots of packets. They’re very gentle on your skin. I fluctuate with what moisturisers I use, and I don’t spend too long rubbing my face. I do it gently, so I don’t pull my skin around. I colour my hair with Aveda products.’ ‘Make-up wise, I always use MAC products in the daytime. I use an all-in-one cover-up, their eyebrow pencils and mascaras and finish off with Spice lip liner. Very simple. If I’m doing TV or anything special, it’s all Armani. Their bases are fantastic, they cover everything. I use their eyeshadows and a cream blusher too.’ Arlene’s fashion tips for mature ladies… I like to wear very simple little dresses with a comfortable pair of trousers underneath. I get mine from Sweaty Betty – they’ve got an elasticated waist and are easy to wear. And my shoes are always from Taryn Rose. Wearing trainers when you’re in your 60s doesn’t seem right, but you can run in these shoes, walk in them, have them on all day. They literally hug your feet and they look great with trousers.’ The perfect diet ‘Last year I had the best year of my life, food wise. I had a healthy diet for the entire year. I ate oat biscuits, chicory, organic chicken, lots of fruit. No butter, no bread, nothing bad, for the whole year. My weight was 8st 4lb. Then at Christmas I thought, “I’ve been so good, I can eat what I want.” So I added a bit of cheese, a few potatoes, some houmous, and I’ve gone on adding. I can be strict and disciplined, but then, once I break it, that’s it. But a week ago I started again. For some people it wouldn’t matter, but for me I can’t add those things, because it shows. You might as well just paste the cheese directly on my thighs.’ September 14 Kelly Warned About BrendanEx-Emmerdale star Claire King has warned Kelly Brook of Brendan Cole's womanising ways.
The glamour model, who is engaged to Titanic actor Billy Zane, was offered the friendly advice after being paired with Brendan for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing. Claire, famed for playing superbitch Kim Tate in the ITV1 soap, was Brendan's partner for last year's series and has urged Kelly to tell the lady-lover to: "Keep his hands to himself!" But Claire did have some kind words, saying: "He's an incredible dancer but he's not the best teacher because he's got very little patience. We were like a married couple; we laughed but we also fought." Sexy Kelly Brook got Strictly Come Dancing partner Brendan Cole so worked up at their first lesson he ran off to cool down. Brendan, who cheated on his fiancée with series one winner Natasha Kaplinsky, could barely dance in front of busty Kelly, 27.
She said: “He seemed quite shy and couldn’t think of any steps. I don’t know if I was intimidating but he had to go away for ten minutes. He seems more confident now.”

Judges Len Goodman, Craig Revel Horwood, Arlene Phillips and Bruno Tonioli also return to cast a professional eye over the competitor's performances. Commenting on the new series, Bruce Forsyth said: "It's hard to believe this is the fifth series and the show goes from strength to strength. So many people I meet can't wait for it to return ... I can't help but get excited myself!" Tess Daly said: "With such a dynamic cast, this year's Strictly Come Dancing is going to be explosive. We've got the babes, 'The Barnes', 'The Beacham' and even a husband and wife pitted against each other. Roll on October, it's going to be one heck of a show!" In the first show the boys will dance to stay in the competition performing either a waltz or a cha-cha-cha whilst the girls remain safe and perform a group number. Then it's the girls' turn in week two to dance to be in with a chance to stay as they perform either a quickstep or a rumba. The boys will perform a group number and will all return for week three when it's every couple for themselves. From the off, the couples will face the judges and the public vote. In week one a male will go, in week two a female will go and in the third week the lowest scoring pair starts leaving the competition. As in previous series all the proceeds from viewer voting will go towards BBC Children in Need, which has now raised a staggering £4.7million over the four series. Those who can't wait for the Saturday night show can get their daily fix on BBC Two when Claudia Winkleman returns with Strictly Come Dancing – It Takes Two, bringing you exclusive interviews, backstage gossip and footage from the training sessions. BBC1 is currently screening the fourth series of Dancing with the Stars, which featured Heather Mills McCartney, on Sunday afternoons but is thought to have passed on the opportunity of airing the fifth series.
UKTV Gold will screen three hours of content from the hit ABC series - which is produced by BBC Worldwide Productions - each week over the show's 10-week run from the end of September. The head of UKTV Gold, James Newton, said: "The stellar line-up of contestants - especially Brits Mel B and Jane Seymour - the great production values and sheer glamour and spectacle of the show all add up to must-see family viewing." The series will feature 12 celebrities attempting to perform dance routines judged by Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba. The acquisition is part of UKTV Gold's strategy of moving away from its previous reliance on repeats of BBC programmes. As well as Dancing with the Stars, the channel has also recently bought the US comedy New Adventures of Old Christine and dramas Prison Break and Shark. It also has a movie deal with Sony for titles such as Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Panic Room and The Patriot.
