Strictly Come Dancing star Vincent Simone has accused Matt Di Angelo of stealing the love of his life. The professional dancer, who was voted off with dance partner Stephanie Beacham in week two of the competition, felt heartbroken when he noticed that his long-term girlfriend Flavia Cacace was falling for Matt as they spent hours together in rehearsals.

Vincent revealed that Flavia admitted her feelings for Matt at the end-of-show wrap party this week. He is now worried about how he will cope when he has to see them together during the 2008 Strictly tour. "Matt has stolen the only woman I've ever loved. I feel empty and am beside myself. I've never felt like this before and all I want is to have her back," Vincent told The People. "She's the love of my life and I thought we'd be together forever and get married but now I don't know what's going on.

"I didn't even want to go to the end-of-show wrap party but I forced myself. When she and Matt went off to cosy up on a sofa in the corner together, that was it. I took her to one side and asked her again what was going on. I told her I couldn't cope with doing the tour if I had to see them together. The thought just tears me apart inside. She cried and told me she'd fallen for him. She should have told me before and the fact that she didn't upset me more. I was so angry and upset with her, disappointed too."

He added: "I want her back and I'd do anything to make that happen but I don't think I can take any more heartache."

Matt Di Angelo has revealed that he is 'excited' about going on the Strictly Come Dancing UK tour and is pleased he can dance for longer. The EastEnders star came second on the latest series of the BBC1 dancing contest to winner Alesha Dixon.

Di Angelo has agreed to go on the five-week tour alongside contestants Darren Gough, Zoe Ball and Letitia Dean. The 20-year-old claimed he was pleased that more people would get to see the celebrities perform.

He said: "I think it's so unfair that such a small audience get to watch the show. I genuinely think we're going to be sold out. So many people want to see the show; it is such a huge deal. And I get to dance for another five weeks which is going to be a fun and exciting experience."

Strictly Come Dancing Series Three Winners Darren Gough and his partner Lilia Kopylova were crowned 2007 Xmas Special Champions, after beating runners up Gethin Jones and Camilla Dallerup to the title. The other contestants taking part were Series Four Winners Mark Ramprakash and Karen Hardy, Series Five contestants Letitia Dean and Darren Bennett, Matt Di' Angelo and Flavia Cacace and finally Series Five Winners Alesha Dixon and her partner Matthew Cutler.  

 

Darren and Lilia also won the Xmas Special trophy in 2005, which makes them the first couple to win the Xmas Special twice and Darren and Lilia are the only couple in Strictly Come Dancing history to receive a hat-trick of trophies. Strictly Come Dancing host Bruce Forsyth is reported to be knighted. Brucie, 79 – dubbed the King of Game Show Hosts – will get the gong for services to showbiz in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in June. The award is a major victory for a campaign in the wake of Brucie’s big career comeback. Thousands of people have signed an online petition for the former tap-dancer to be given the gong.

 

On Saturday’s BBC1 ballroom show co-host Tess Daly joked about “Sir” Brucie. Prime Minister Gordon Brown will rubber stamp the gong before it is agreed by the Queen. Officials had hoped to give Brucie, who has a CBE, the tribute in the New Year’s Honours, but it is believed arrangements could not be made fast enough.

He came to fame as host of the Generation Game in the 1970s – with his catchphrase “Nice to see you, to see you nice”. The dapper star then hosted Play Your Cards Right and The Price is Right before his career went quiet. But in 2003 the three times married dad of six made a comeback on Have I Got News For You – and the first series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Joyful Alesha Dixon told yesterday how she transformed herself from suicidal wreck to dancing queen in 12 extraordinary months. The gorgeous Strictly Come Dancing winner was in the depths of despair last Christmas.  The former Mis-Teeq singer had discovered her husband, ex-So Solid Crew member MC Harvey, was cheating on her with pop pal Javine Hylton. And days later, her record company dumped her. Alesha said: “It was the lowest point of my life. I just kept thinking, ‘What have I done to deserve this?’ I didn’t see the point in living.”

But on Saturday night the 29-year-old beauty became the nation’s favourite dancer as 11million viewers tuned in to watch her emotion-charged telly triumph. And yesterday she beamed: “Look at me now. I’ve learned to dance, I’m happy and I believe it was meant to happen. Strictly has just given me a real zest for life. I thrive on hard work and even though my body is in pain and tired, my first choice is to get up and do something. Life is so short. We should all grasp it.”  There’s more exhilaration to come, too. Alesha is in talks to land a major role in West End musical Chicago.

She is heading to Asia next month to promote the solo songs her record company refused to release. And in another sweet victory, she is poised to sign a new recording deal with another firm. Alesha – partnered by Matthew Cutler for five dazzling dances in Saturday’s final – told how she turned around her fortunes so dramatically by trying desperately to “be positive”. She said: "Last Christmas was a real, real low point. Anyone who knows me knows that my music career and marriage were the most important things. And I lost them within two weeks of each other. I believe in karma – and I sat there thinking, ‘I must have done something.’ It was a really weird time, a time where I had to force myself to believe all these things were being swept away for a reason. Believe me, it wasn’t easy."

Despite losing Harvey’s heart, Alesha was not totally alone. Her mum Beverley, her cherished nans and her closest friends stayed by her side throughout the dark days. And suddenly she realised it was down to her to pull through – and live again. She said: "I’d been sitting on my couch and I was down all the time. But one evening a lightbulb went off in my head and the next morning I started making calls, starting to make things happen. I had to start the engine myself. For my own sanity and peace of mind, I had to be positive. So many women have told me, ‘I would have spent months and months being depressed.’ But I just refused to. My mum always taught me that no matter what you go through, there are people going through much worse. And I realised that what I had outweighed what I had lost. I had my friends and family. My close friends were with me all the time. You realise what’s important in life."

One vital decision she made was to sign up for Strictly. But she almost held back, fearing music industry snobs would snigger at her. She said: “I didn’t say Yes straight away. When I was in Mis-Teeq I said I’d never do a reality show. Or if I did, the only one would be Strictly. In the music industry there is a certain amount of snobbery – and Strictly was a risk for me. I didn’t want people thinking I was using it as a vehicle. But I finally thought, ‘Who cares what people think? I know why I’m doing it.’ I’m SO glad I stuck by my choice. The reality was I wanted to learn how to dance. And that’s what I did.”

Alesha has even found it within herself to forgive Harvey, 28 – despite Javine, 25, expecting his baby. Asked if she had any contact with him, she replied: “He wished me good luck. He always told me I’d be brilliant on Strictly. I even had my mother-in-law and his aunties come down to the show because I’m still really close to his family. I have forgiven Harvey. We’re adults and we’re dealing with it as maturely as two people can.”

The couple split after six years together and an 18-month marriage. They are still going through the divorce process. And Alesha said with an ironic smile: “I got home from the show party at 5am and thought. ‘Back to reality – that’ll be a fun thing’!”  The leggy brunette said she has no man in her life at the moment. And she rubbished reports she is romancing Strictly’s runner-up, EastEnders heart-throb Matt Di Angelo, who lost out with partner Flavia Cacace. She said: “It’s just comical. I feel like I’m old enough to be Matt’s mother. To be honest I’d been hoping there WOULD be someone I fancied on the crew. But there wasn’t. Never mind.”

Alesha has been on a couple of dates since her marriage collapsed and says she is looking for “someone lovely, a gentleman who is funny – and a good cook”. She admits she has odd moments of feeling broody and said: “Emma Bunton brought her baby Beau in to meet me on Saturday night. And, oh my God, he’s gorgeous. But I feel I want to do so much before I have children.”

Battered and bruised Alesha told how she nearly did not make Strictly’s final because she was so exhausted from all the training – and was shocked when she won. She was sick on the studio floor on Friday as she went through her final routines and Cutler feared it was over. Of her victory, she said: “I convinced myself and everyone else I wasn’t going to win. I thought pretty boy Matt was going to do it. I was ready to fall into Matthew’s arms. But in that one moment everything was worth it. It was one of the best feelings in the world.”

Asked what she would miss most now the show is over, Alesha said firmly: “Matthew. I nearly cried when I had to leave him. But I sent him a text saying I hope we’ll be friends forever. His family says I brought him out of his shell. That’s from all my constant talking. I don’t shut up.”  Alesha grinned sheepishly when reminded she had been dubbed the British Beyonce by host Bruce Forsyth. She said: “There’s only one Beyonce. When Bruce says that I get embarrassed. It’s very sweet . . . but it’s not true.”

Men voted Strictly Come Dancing their greatest “guilty pleasure” in a Radio Times poll – because of the “smallness of the costumes, the drama, humour and frocks”.

Over 11 million viewers tuned into BBC One last night to see Alesha take the Strictly Come Dancing crown, and the number of votes cast during the finale night were over 9 million. A percentage of the vote money goes to the Children In Need charities.
