Strictly Come Dancing Week Four Results

Following a recap of last nights performances, including Len and Arlene giving an unrepentant Bruno a dressing-down for his failure to penalise Kelly and Brendan for breaking the rules with their American Smooth, and a performance from Wet, Wet, Wet, it was time to reveal the results.

It was announced that the two couples with the lowest overall scores were Gabby and James and Penny and Ian. Both couples danced their Sambas again, hoping to be saved by the judges.

    Craig: Gabby and James

    Arlene: Penny and Ian

    Bruno: Penny and Ian

Which meant that sadly Gabby and James had to leave us. "I don't want to cry because I've had such an amazing time with james," said Gabby. "He's been a phenomenal teacher."

    Strictly Judge Craig Interview

STRICTLY Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood gets ready to rumba as he cha-cha-chas a go at this year's contestants. The acid-tongued Aussie said Penny Lancaster looked like a SWINGER, Letitia Dean was FAT and injured Kate Garraway was a HUMILIATION. And the quickstep assault continued as he claimed show lothario Brendan Cole wanted to BED dance partner Kelly Brook. He even had a pop at doddery host Bruce Forsyth, 79, for stumbling over his words.

"There's only about three words to each autocue page now," he revealed. "If Bruce didn't do the screw-ups it wouldn't be the same. People wait to see what he does wrong next." But Craig whinged: "I can't bear him interrupting me. It makes me look bloody stupid and the biggest bitch. I'm there for a reason—to criticise the dances."

So here's choreographer Craig, 40, getting some little-needed training in that department. Speaking for the first time about the contestants, he sniped that leggy Penny, who burst into tears at his comments on last week's show, acted more like a swinger than a dancer.

He said: "She's arrogant. I know she's having a good time but with her outfit it looked like she was at some swingers' party. Part of the problem is she's 6ft 3in. Her legs are so long she can't get them out in time. She's discovered she's got a lot more work to do."

Next Craig savaged ex-EastEnder Letitia Dean, heartbroken after her marriage break-up, for being too fat—then did a nifty backstep saying she could still dance well. He said: "She shouldn't be paranoid about it. Go out there and show people it's OK to be bigger. "You can still dance your ass off it you're a fat porker."

Craig—whose interview can be seen on video at notw.co.uk— added: "Letitia's fantastic personality shines through. But I feel sorry for her. Who wouldn't lose confidence dancing next to Amazons like Kelly, Penny and Gabby (Logan). Now she really needs to get her body together and do crunches to reduce her stomach."

Matchmaker Craig reckons Letitia and fellow contestant Dominic Littlewood could make a great couple. "They're suited. They're both feisty but the only question is if she'd sleep with a dancing bullfrog. I know I wouldn't!" Giving his verdict on the other girls he thinks singer Alesha Dixon is good but may not be popular with the audience and Gabby, who's competing against her rugby star husband Kenny Logan, is out to win. "She wears the pants and will tread all over Kenny to win. He tries hard but doesn't have much of a future. He looks like a gorilla."

TV's Mr Nasty now wants crocked GMTV presenter Kate Garraway, who was on crutches with tendonitis at the start of the BBC1 series, to have her last tango in the ballroom. "I would get her out as soon as possible. She hasn't milked her injury and is doing her best. But she doesn't have flair. The audience is being brutal putting her through every week. It's just to humiliate her in front of 12 million people."

He also had a go at her dance partner Anton Du Beke for being a bad sport. "He's trying to become the new Brendan by swearing. It's totally unprofessional. I understand his frustration because he's dancing with Kate but it's his job to make her look as good as he can." Craig also has no sympathy with other contestants complaining that Kelly and Penny had extra dance tuition before the show began. "If I was going on this programme I'd be training. You can't just turn up on the day and think it's going to be OK."

Craig reckons womaniser Brendan—who's dating French beauty Nathalie Albouy and has been linked to a string of girls including former dance partner Natasha Kaplinsky—will still try his luck with gorgeous partner Kelly. He said: "In his head I know he's still thinking he has a chance to score with Kelly. He thinks every woman swoons over him. But he's not that pretty to look at."

Craig admitted that Kelly's fiancé Billy Zane is trying to BRIBE him to give her good scores. "He buys me drinks at the bar all the time to encourage me to give her high marks." But Craig reckons tough times are ahead for the model. "She's good at all the Latin dances but the ballroom ones are more technical."

He thinks the boys—including Blue Peter's Gethin Jones, EastEnder Matt Di Angelo and ex-footballer John Barnes—have made the most improvement. "They're on the way up. Gethin's not bad and has the looks, Matt will give the girls a run for their money and John's got natural rhythm and is getting fitter. He's already lost a stone."

Craig reserved his harshest words for the show's biggest competitor, ITV1's X Factor. "They're desperate for ratings. The only way they can get viewers is by Sharon walking off or them throwing water over each other. The way she behaved was completely unprofessional. You don't see me crying when an act I loved get booted off."

But he confessed there were also strains this year between the Strictly judges, who include Arlene Phillips and Len Goodman. "Arlene's got very mouthy. Her voice drives me mad. And Len is too soft. If it's not up to scratch he should score accordingly. We don't agree but I hope the public agree with me."

Strictly Come Dancing: Week Four Report

First up were Alesha and Matthew, dancing the American Smooth to Top Hat, White Tie and Tails by Tony Bennett. Len was impressed by the performance: "I don't think you will ever create a bad performance on the floor." He was, however, disappointed by their performance in hold, causing a disagreement with Bruno, who said: "I don't know what you were looking at!" Craig was also impressed: "Amazing control through the spins, you've really got that nailed." Craig agreed with Len, however, that Alesha and Matthew lost contact when they were in hold. Arlene said: "It wasn't perfect, but the glamour of Hollywood was brought to our floor - what an opening!"

    Craig: 8, Arlene: 8, Len: 8, Bruno: 9 = 33

The second couple to take to the dancefloor were Gabby and James, dancing the Samba to Emma Bunton's Eso Beso. Len told Gabby that she had the "gaiety and fun of the dance, but your voltas were a little bit skippy. But I thought you did a very good job, well done." Craig called it "yet another shimmy, camp opening - you absolutely had that massive party feel which I think is fantastic. Amazing extension, as always, but I have to agree with Len: your voltas looked like you were limping around like a wounded mule." Arlene told Gabby: "You've got to let the music live within you. The bounce action was a little bit like a sparrow picking crumbs - use your knees!"

    Craig: 7, Arlene: 7, Len: 8, Bruno: 8 = 30

Dancing next were Dominic and Lilia, performing an American Smooth to Robbie Williams's Straighten Up and Fly Right. "If anyone had told me there'd be anything smooth about you, I'd say they were lying, but this girl has polished you like a diamond!" said Arlene, telling Dominic that his rhythm was better this week. "You do a great job every time," said Len. "But what gets on my nerves - whenever you're behind Lilia, why are you always watching her bum?" Bruno wasn't entirely convinced by the performance, commenting that, "the rough overtook the smooth." Craig had some praise for Dom's dance partner, telling the couple: "I don't think it was brilliant, but what is fantastic is Lilia's clever choreography - she always gives you something that suits you."

    Craig: 6, Arlene: 6, Len: 7, Bruno: 7 = 26

Our fourth couple tonight were Kate and Anton, dancing a Samba to Dancing Queen by Abba. "Entertaining, sadly, for all the wrong reasons," said Craig. "You lost your footing, you have major timing issues - Anton looked like he was literally throwing you about." Arlene was similarly unimpressed: "More like a dancing quail than a dancing queen." Len had kinder words: "I can see improvement, I think you're on the right road," and singled out Kate's promenades as being impressive. Bruno called it, "a marvellous Samba nightmare. Poor Anton should get an award."

    Craig: 3, Arlene: 3, Len: 6, Bruno: 4 = 16

Next were John and Nicole, with their American Smooth to 'Stay With Me' by Deborah Bonham. Sadly it wasn't smooth enough to win over the judges. "You know what I'm going to say, don't you?" said Bruno. "You messed it up big time. You lost your footing, then your posture went, then your personality went." Craig summed the performance up in one sentence: "The most exciting thing about that dance was the lift at the end." Arlene had some positive feedback, but was still unimpressed: "I think you have a sentimentality about your dancing. That was going on upstairs, but downstairs was a sorry state."

    Craig: 4, Arlene: 5, Len: 7, Bruno: 6 = 22

The sixth couple to dance were Kenny and Ola, dancing a Samba to Thalia's Mujer Latina. Would his Samba impress the judges as much as his wife's did? Sadly not: "That Samba looked like it came on the Flying Scotsman, rather than flying down from Rio," said Arlene. Len was disappointed: "There were a couple of juicy nice bits, but they were so small among the horrible." "It looked drunk to me," said Bruno. "You have the grace of a vacuum cleaner! It was bad." Craig finished the feedback by saying, "That was a complete dance disaster for me - in fact, it was grotesque in some places. The hip thrusts were absolutely repulsive."

    Craig: 3, Arlene: 4, Len: 6, Bruno: 5 = 18

Next were Kelly and Brendan, dancing the American Smooth to (Love Is) The Tender Trap by Frank Sinatra. "It was like watching Ava Gardner - it was pure Hollywood," said Bruno, adding: "It was the performance of the night for me." Craig asked Brendan why he always has to ruin things: "You put three lifts in, and the rules are only two. That performance could've been a ten, and now we'll have to mark it down." Arlene called the dance "gorgeous and glamorous - and a damn shame about those three lifts!"

    Craig: 8, Arlene: 8, Len: 8, Bruno: 10 = 34

Our eighth couple were Gethin and Camilla, dancing the Samba to More Than A Woman by the Tavares. Craig noted "a slight improvement on the hips. No bounce whatsoever, sadly, and your voltas were absolutely terrible, but I enjoyed the dance." Arlene wanted to see more hip action: "Don't hold back, you are not on Blue Peter now!" Len pointed out that Gethin "lost the timing here and there throughout the dance - unlucky, because it was your best dance."

    Craig: 6, Arlene: 6, Len: 7, Bruno: 7 = 26

Letitia and Darren were next, dancing the American Smooth to Makin' Whoopee by Dinah Washington. "You've thrown off that market stall persona forever - that was elegant!" said Arlene. Len agreed: "I won't beat about the bush - your best dance to date, well done!" Bruno enjoyed the routine as well: "A touch of class with a sprinkle of camp always works - just watch the shoulders."

    Craig: 7, Arlene: 8, Len: 8, Bruno: 8 = 31

The tenth couple to dance were Penny and Ian, with a Samba to These Boots Are Made For Walking by Nancy Sinatra. Penny was wearing a suitably impressive pair of high-heeled boots, but hoping not to be walking away from the show this week. Len told Penny "there will be weeks where a certain dance doesn't suit you, as we saw last week. There'll be other weeks where the dance is right up your alley, and that was one." "You certainly can use your assets!" said Bruno, admiringly. Craig was also full of praise: "Penny, welcome back into the competition! I liked the sixties styling." Arlene disagreed with her fellow judges however, saying: "That was less like a carnival in Rio, more like a private party for two."

    Craig: 8, Arlene: 7, Len: 9, Bruno: 8 = 32

Closing the show were Matt and Flavia, dancing the American Smooth to Michael Buble's For Once In My Life. Craig declared the dance, "absolutely fantastic. Debonair, smooth, nice hands. I loved it!" Arlene called Matt a "Matt-inee idol". Len said "I look back four weeks ago when you did that Cha Cha Cha, and now I see that - incredible." Bruno said: "You were in control, you were charismatic - amazing job."

    Craig: 9, Arlene: 9, Len: 9, Bruno: 9 = 36

    Strictly Furious

Strictly Come Dancing judges have had a stand-up row with show chiefs – because they want Kate Garraway to go.

Arlene Phillips and Craig Revel Horwood cannot believe Kate – who has two left feet – is being kept on the BBC1 show. The public vote for who they want to keep in and the two judges – along with Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli – only get to pick someone to go from the bottom two.

But Arlene and Craig reckon they should be given more control over who who goes so that they can get rid of GMTV’s Kate, 39. She and partner Anton du Beke have been kept in by loyal GMTV fans despite struggling with tendonitis. Stephanie Beacham and Willie Thorne have been sent packing.

Arlene launched into a row with producers, ranting: “I can’t believe Kate Garraway is still on the show, she can’t dance.”  A source said: “All the celebrities and their partners are putting in hours of practice. It’s rather galling for them to work that hard and then see Kate sail through to the next round despite putting in an appalling performance. Things are starting to get catty.”

Strictly Come Dancing: Week Three Result

The bottom two this week were Willie & Erin, and John & Nicole. Both couples danced again, hoping to impress the judges and keep their place in the competition.

So who did the judges vote to keep?

    Craig: John and Nicole

    Arlene: John and Nicole

    Bruno: John and Nicole

    Len: John and Nicole

So Willie and Erin were the third couple out of the running. "It's been fabulous." said Willie. "Erin's been an absolute angel."

    Strictly Sabotage

Angry BBC workers are plotting to sabotage the sound and lighting of a live broadcast of Strictly Come Dancing. Celebrity dancers Kelly Brook, Penny Lancaster and John Barnes could be plunged into darkness and silence.

A group of around 150 BBC staff - who have been dubbed "The Counting House Conspirators" after the pub where they hatched the plot - will target the BBC's biggest hit shows. They aim to cause maximum disruption by wrecking programmes through direct unofficial action against the 2,500 job cuts announced by BBC director general Mark Thompson.

He is trying to plug a £2billion gap in BBC budgets over the next six years with a round of drastic cuts. The workers are angry about the efforts of unions BECTU, Unite and the NUJ, who have postponed strike action and agreed to negotiate with bosses over the next fortnight. The group has held two key London meetings - in the Counting House pub in the City and The Railway Tavern near Liverpool Street station.

They have pledged to disrupt live shows and to go for those which are most popular with viewers. Match of the Day's live screening of the crucial England v Croatia Euro 2008 qualifier at Wembley on November 21 is also on the list. Other shows may include Children In Need, main news bulletins and The One Show.

But top of their list is Strictly Come Dancing, which has been earmarked for major disruption. It has been averaging around 7.5million viewers a week. One production worker, who is involved in the militant group, said: "Strictly Come Dancing is the BBC's jewel in the crown of live shows so that is our number one target. We will ruin it by deliberately causing technical problems with the sound, the lighting and the cameras during live broadcasts."

The Counting House Conspirators have been communicating by text to avoid work emails. The worker went on: "The beauty is that none of us have been involved in any union activity so we will be regarded by the bosses as workers who are toeing the line and who don't pose any threat. We know we will upset fans of the show with this action but our feeling is that the unions have not been firm enough and we want to hit the BBC where it really hurts."

    Matt Di'Angelo Denies Strictly Rivalry

Matt Di Angelo has insisted that there is no rivalry between the Strictly Come Dancing contestants. The actor, who is partnered with professional dancer Flavia Cacace, explained that the show's stars are keen to support each other as they battle for the title.

"Everyone wants there to be bitchiness, but there isn't," Matt told Celebs on Sunday. "We're all so petrified every week, we just end up being really supportive of one another. To be honest, we're all having too much fun." Matt added that he expects Alesha Dixon or Gethin Jones to win the series: "They're so good, definitely the dark horses of the show."

    Brendan's New Twirl

    Brendan Cole (pic:retna)

This is the first picture of Strictly Come Dancing lothario Brendan Cole's sexy new squeeze. He was rumba-led on a night out with French beauty Nathalie Albouy - boss of a posh party planning company in St Tropez. The pair have been spending time together in London between his rehearsals. A pal of the Kiwi dancer said: "Nathalie is a stunning girl who loves a party and knows how to have a good time. So she is perfect for Brendan. He is extremely keen on her and it is easy to see why."

Brendan, 30, has been linked with a string of beauties, including Natasha Kaplinsky, Abi Titmus, Sophie Anderton, Lady Victoria Hervey, Adele Silva and Martine McCutcheon. But his charms haven't won over current dance partner Kelly Brook, 27, who stormed out of rehearsals on Thursday. A source said: "Brendan had been having a go at Kelly all day. She told him she was off."

Strictly's Letitia Dean Mauled By Co-Star

Heratbroken Letitia Dean - still reeling from her marraige split - was savaged by her Strictly Come Dancing partner for letting it affect her performance.

Darren Bennett stormed out during a screaming match as the couple rehearsed for this week's tango after narrowly avoiding the boot last week. The huffy hoofer yelled at Letitia: "Take this show seriously or I'm not coming back!"

A BBC insider revealed: "There was a huge amount of yelling and screaming. There has been for days. But this was their biggest bust-up yet. Darren screamed at Letitia for not taking the competition seriously enough. He didn't return all day and we feared Letitia might have to pull out of the show."

Former EastEnder Letitia, 39, is still devastated after breaking up with media executive Jason Pethers, also 39. Show sources say it has taken a serious toll on her confidence. And she was upset to end up in the bottom two following the first public vote last weekend. They were narrowly saved by the judges.

Former show winner Darren eventually returned to rehearsals the day after the row—but only to fulfil his contractual obligations. Anguished Letitia refused to talk to him or even look him in the eye as they tried to prepare for last night's tango performance to Madonna's Material Girl.

Our source added: "Letitia is close to breaking point. She's trying to put a brave face on things but the last few weeks have been hellish for her. Darren won series two with Jill Halfpenny and came third with Emma Bunton last year. But he thinks his hopes have been dashed by being with Letitia because she's so caught up in dealing with her separation. Letitia told show bosses her self esteem is at an all-time low. Being back in the public eye during such a difficult time has made her feel very exposed."

Last week the actress — who has taken up running to improve her fitness— admitted her mind hasn't been on the job. She said: "I didn't really concentrate. I feel like a rabbit caught in the headlights." But Letitia defiantly declared: "Some-times you need the fear of God in you to achieve something. I'm 40 next month so I need to prove there's life in the old dog yet."

Strictly Come Dancing Week Three Report

This week sees all the couples - the girls and the boys - take to the floor. Who'll win out in this battle of the sexes? One thing's for sure, everyone was going for broke to impress Craig, Arlene, Bruno and Len. But someone still has to walk away on Sunday...

On first were Gabby and James, Jiving to Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting. But there was no fighting talk from the judges. "You just showed us what we're looking for," said Len.

"You got the party started!" added Bruno. Craig agreed. "Cartwheel and kicks. I think you're a star!"

    Craig: 8, Arlene: 7, Len: 8, Bruno: 8 = 31

Next, Gethin and Camilla followed with a Tango to Spandau Ballet's Gold - Camilla wearing an appropriately golden outfit, of course

The judges were divided. Len said the Tango needed "a bit of fire and passion - and that was the one little thing that was missing." Bruno wasn't so sure. "I can see the Welsh dragon," he claimed. And Arlene was with him. "I'm going to call you gorgeous Gethin!" she said. "You are far better than I expected!"

    Craig: 6, Arlene: 7, Len: 8, Bruno: 8 = 29

On next were Penny and Ian, who danced a Jive to Don't Stop Me Now. But there were harsh words from the judges.

"Gangly, lumpy, laboured," said Craig. Arlene agreed. "You're leggy and lazy." Len and Bruno were more sympathetic. "It is difficult if you're long legged," said Len. "You came out, you coped very well." But even Bruno had to admit that the performance was "a little bit fuzzy."

    Craig: 5, Arlene: 6, Len: 7, Bruno: 7 = 25

On with a Tango came Kenny and Ola, dancing to Blondie's Call Me. But it seemed like a case of "We'll call you" from the judges. "You went for it like Conan the Barbarian!" said Bruno, and asked for "a little more finesse." Arlene agreed. "Nasty footwork, and those dreaded rugby player hands every time you lost hold." But Len had more encouraging words for the pair. "listen to them. I liked it!"

    Craig 6: , Arlene 6: , Len 7: , Bruno: 6 = 25

Swaggering onto the floor next were Matt and Flavia, Shake, Rattle and Roll-ing in a Jive. And they rattled the judges in the best way.

"Kicks, flicks, pivots – let me let you into a secret Matt, don't lose it because you could be a star!" said Arlene. "What a turnaround," enthused Bruno. "I knew you could do it."

    Craig: 7, Arlene: 7, Len: 8, Bruno: 8 = 30

Kate and Anton took to the floor next, dancing a Tango to They. Kate had been concerned about whether she was sexy enough – and the judges sadly agreed.

"It looked like Anton had whispered sweet nothings in your ear, and you hadn't listened," said Arlene. "Everything was there, but it didn't come out right," agreed Len. "It was distant and vacant – you've got to put emotion in it," added Bruno.

    Craig: 4, Arlene: 5, Len: 5, Bruno: 5 = 19

Sweetening things up with a Jive to Candyman, next came Dom and Lilia.

"It was a jolly jape of a jive," said Arlene. But she thought Dom had "arms a bit like Andy Pandy." Len had words of advice. "You're a little bit flat-footed. Imagine you're at the urinal – get up on your toes!" Bruno agreed. "Stay on the beat, and work on your feet," he said.

    Craig: 6, Arlene: 6, Len: 7, Bruno: 6 = 25

Letitia and Darren slid onto the floor to follow, dancing the Tango to Material Girl. Would they stay out of the dance-off this week?

"I thought the energy was absolutely amazing," said Craig, though he thought there was a bit too much "up and down." Arlene felt, "the relationship is beginning to work. You look like you've spent all night having an intellectual discussion about the Tango!"

Next up, there was a little Jiving by John and Nicole to Reet Petite. Football legend John had even missed watching an England game that week to practice his dance – had it paid off?

"Footwork first – tasty!" enthused Arlene. But: "upper body – I know she's small, but you hang over her." Bruno agreed. "You are naturally engaging, and your footwork is very good, but watch the upper half." But Len enjoyed it. "You dance like a bloke and I think that's charming," he said.

Willie and Erin graced the dancefloor next, with a Tango to Obertura. Would their efforts win over the judges?

Well, Len liked the footwork, calling it "impeccable," but Willie's posture let him down all round. "It looked so uncomfortable like a polar bear in the Sahara," said Bruno. Craig was even ruder, saying Willie was "hunching like a Walrus."

Next came an energetic Jive to Shake Your Tailfeather by Alesha and Matt. The judges were certainly shaken up, and in a good way.

"Your sheer energy and your finishes are amazing," said Craig. "Fun, fast, fantastic,"agreed Len. And Arlene hoped Alesha's example would "get the youth of Britain up on their feet and Jiving."

Last, but not least, Kelly and Brendan stepped up to dance a passion-filled Tango to Gimme Gimme Gimme.

Kelly's performance certainly got Bruno hot under the collar. "You are definitely the eighth deadly sin. That was incredible." "It was emotional, it was passionate, it was dramatic," said Arlene. "Thrilling" agreed Craig.
